What does Rapid Road Restore do?
We restore gravel roads and driveways using a patent-pending machine from New Zealand β the first of its kind in the USA. It reworks your existing gravel rather than hauling in new material. We’re a family-owned business dedicated to helping the Lowcountry keep gravel driveways, rural roads, and community lanes smooth and safe. Our innovative process restores the gravel you already have β no heavy machinery, no wasted materials, and no sky-high costs β while keeping road surfaces vehicle-friendly.
How does the restoration process work?
Our machine shatters the compacted gravel surface, breaks up potholes and uneven surfaces, and remixes the reclaimed material together for an even consistency. It then uses our built-in catch blade to grade the material, reshaping and crowning it back over a well-prepared base.
Do I need to buy new gravel?
Most of the driveways we service don’t require new gravel β the process reuses what’s already there, which is why it’s faster and more affordable than a traditional regravel. In some cases, though, there simply isn’t enough material left for a long-lasting result, and new gravel is needed. Even then, our service is second to none for properly prepping the road or driveway before that material goes down. You can’t just dump new gravel onto an existing surface with potholes and ruts β it will wash out quickly. The surface needs to be properly prepped first for a lasting result, and that’s exactly where we come in.
How is this different from regular grading or regraveling?
Standard grading just moves surface material around and doesn’t fix subsurface issues, so potholes come back quickly. Regraveling adds cost by trucking in new material. Our process breaks up and remixes the existing gravel down to where the problems start, completely removing potholes and uneven surfaces and giving a longer-lasting repair without new material costs.
Will this get rid of my potholes for good?
The shatter-and-remix process addresses potholes at their source rather than just patching the surface, so results last significantly longer than a standard grade. Results can vary with soil, drainage, and traffic conditions.
Is this a permanent fix?
No gravel surface is permanent or maintenance-free, but our process significantly extends the life of your road or driveway compared to standard grading, reducing how often you need repairs.
How is this different from a Harley rake or power rake?
A power rake only skims the top few inches of gravel to smooth the surface β it doesn’t touch what’s actually causing ruts and potholes underneath. Our machine reclaims the driveway at depth, breaking up and remixing the existing gravel down to where the problems start. It also grades material into low spots, evening out the surface, and crowns the road so water can run off. That means a repair that holds up, instead of a surface pass that looks good for a couple weeks and then reverts.
How long does a job take?
Most residential driveways can be completed in 3-4 hours. Longer gravel roads may take more time depending on length and condition.
How much does it cost?
Using one machine for the entire job reduces transport and operating costs, and compaction achieved simply by driving your own vehicle up and down the road afterward helps keep costs down too. Pricing depends on the length and condition of your driveway or road. Contact us for a free estimate. Standard residential driveways start at $695.
What areas do you serve?
We work primarily in Charleston & surrounding areas. Further locations may incur a small travel fee.
